Star Wars: Birth of the Republic
Corellia and Allies
Corellia could be considered the birthplace of the revolution against the Infinite Empire. Corellia attempted rebellion on an incredibly frequent basis, with major uprisings happening on an almost annual basis (though only very rarely did these uprisings claim more than a few cities and last for longer than a few weeks). With the plague having weakened the Infinite Empire, the uprisings had become harder and harder to put down. Finally, after several plague years and the decay of much of the hyperspace data between different regions of the Empire, a Corellian uprising was able to hit enough critical mass that local garrisons couldn’t contain it. It spread across a continent and a half and the Rakata forces called to other nearby worlds for reinforcements. The battle began to go poorly for the Corellians as troops from Duro poured in, but the dramatic weakening of the Duro garrison led to revolutions there, and the victorious Duro Kingdom was able to relieve the beleaguered Corellians, thus winning the first major battle in what would become known as the Infinite War or the Revolution.
The Battle of Kuat led to the addition of Alderaan to the alliance of free worlds with the assistance of Duros hyperdrives. Though Alderaan was a peaceful world, when they heard of the atrocities visited upon the populations of slave worlds, their horror was sufficient to push them into action, which won the respect of the Corellians. At the same time, the use of Coruscant as staging area for the Infinite Empire during the battle left the Corellians and Kuat with a grudge against the world, which even Coruscant’s defection in the Battle of Coruscant did not alleviate. Coruscant’s efforts to assert sovereignty over their former colonies, though to date entirely peaceful, did not help either. Relations between Coruscant and Corellia are now cordial but distant. Likewise, the Duro Kingdom’s disinterest in pursuing the defeated Rakata fleet has led to a bit of a falling out between them and Corellia. The Azure Imperium, being equal parts expansionist and xenophobic, has earned the ire of Corellia, and many speculate that if Coruscant and Alsakan weren’t between the two on all major hyperspace lanes, they likely would have gone to war with each other already.
The current state of affairs has left Corellia feeling somewhat abandoned, which makes them more open to the sort of longterm political allegiance with other worlds proposed by Alderaan. Nevertheless, the Corellians also hold a passionate, at times genocidal distaste for the Rakata. Some among the population hold a similar (if less pronounced) distaste for all aliens, but the more level-headed majority have not forgotten who it was that came to their rescue during the battle to liberate their home world.
